A5 perfect bound is the paperback size for guides, workbooks, journals and short-run books: a glued square spine, a heavier cover, and a page count anywhere from 20 to 700.

Artwork guidelines
Supply the inside pages as one PDF of single pages in reading order, each at 216 x 154 mm (the finished size plus 3 mm bleed), with text at least 10 mm from the spine. Supply the cover as a separate spread with the spine included; we confirm the spine width once the page count and paper are chosen. See our artwork guidelines for templates and tips.
Turnaround and delivery
Choose Saver, Standard or Express in the configurator and you will see the delivery date before you pay. UK delivery is included in every price. If something is wrong with a print, tell us and we will put it right.
Popular choices
- 96 pages, 100gsm bond inside in black only, 250gsm silk cover, matt laminated. A short-run book.
- 48 pages, 130gsm silk inside, 300gsm silk cover. A guide or a prospectus.
- 160 pages, 90gsm silk inside, 350gsm cover. A journal or a workbook.
What you can choose
- Size: A5, 210 x 148 mm
- Pages: 20 to 700
- Paper: bond from 80gsm to 250gsm, 80gsm cream uncoated, silk from 90gsm to 350gsm, gloss from 130gsm to 350gsm, or 380 micron pulp board
- Cover: self cover on the same paper, or a heavier cover in silk or gloss from 200gsm to 350gsm, 250gsm bond, 280gsm one-sided cover board or 380 micron pulp board
- Inside printing: full colour or black only
- Printed sides: both sides of every page
- Cover lamination: matt, gloss or velvet, one side or both
- Spot UV on the cover: one side or both
- Orientation: portrait or landscape
- Quantity: 5, or enter your own
- Delivery speed: Saver, Standard or Express
Good to know
Perfect binding glues the pages into a square, printable spine, so the book needs at least 20 pages to have one. We will confirm the spine width for your cover once the page count and paper are chosen.
Print the inside in black only for a novel, a manual or a workbook; the cover is always full colour.
